Now update Redneck Rampage!
Probably the hardest thing is to finish this game as a pacifist, and compared to doom pacifist runs, you can still use blunt melee weapons to defeat enemies, they're not dead, just taking a little nap
I don't even want a new Splinter Cell, I just wish they'd make like a Blacklist DLC with his voiceover.
Looks awesome!
5:31 I'd say that that's a reference to Srdečné pozdravy ze zeměkoule
Judging by the reviews back from when System Shock released, controls were perceived as difficult as well.
#0451Forever.
Silent hill 3 fps
Great video, super excited for the next one in this series!!
An indie Thief clone would be nice.
U deserve more views u give me subtle reviewer vibes like that other immsim guy with the cat and the cooking
"Epic games made Unreal" Yeah sure, and Xbox made Halo.
Лучший дум, шедевр. Таких игр больше не будет, сечас одно га.но.
“I never left.” You’re damn right. No one can replace you
That reloading mechanic may put me off haha but I like the feel of this; could be a bit of fun :D
Poggers, I never thought you can adjust throw curve. :0

I absolutely love skeuomorphic design and control elements. Instead of getting more AAA stuff id probably play only once, 8 bucks sounds damn good time. Man, I'm getting old that this sounds great. Built a 4070, X3D machine with 1440/144hz and I mostly play Audiosurf, DOOM WADs and mods and Grim Dawn. Also Kirk, Grim Dawn review.. maybe..? It has a new expansion coming soon after years and years of incredible support changing the game into a slick and accessible yet deep classic styled aRPG.
Just bought this game today cant wait to play it!
Late 90s PC gaming is an aesthetic that isn't explored often enough tbh. The only other modern game i can think of that does that is Stellar Jockeys' Brigador, with all the pilot portraits looking like they've been ripped straight out of a Win9x CD game and while I kinda don't see it myself, people seem to be reminded of Tiberian Sun's voxel vehicles when looking at the tanks and mechs.
i really dont like the trend to release GZDooM Mods in a paid fashion /:
Looks really cool but im not a fan only being able to see cross hairs instead of a first person view with a gun or weapon.
How does horror and comedy,2 polar opposite genres combine together?
PC only???
I like the sound of a lot of this. Except the reloading. Absolutely not on board with that. I have a tremor and sometimes struggle with precise clicks like that and it just sounds frustrating.
Make Lennon proud? jk :)
BRO I loved that the intro references SS2. This was a real good time! Glad you checked it out, comrade.
Copying the exact controls from system shock is excessive, we're way past that.
It's fun to learn, at least there's no cyberspace section....pure motion sickness..
Kirk recommends a horror im-sim, I buy. I'm a simple man.
This looks very cool. Ty for the review, i'm going to buy this
If anyone wants a game with actually interesting unique ammo loading/unloading mechanics, I suggest Sunset Devils. Its a wild west game where you use mouse buttons and the wheel to do different gun actions depending on single action, lever action, hammer drops, etc. Not out yet but the demo is really good.
Just heard about this game for the first time a few days ago. I was mind-blown that it is listed at under $10. Instant-buy.
The Sherlock Holmes & Dr Watson duo was very popular in Soviet Cinematography. Fun idea to include them. I wonder if there is a Cheburashka monster ;D
This game looks prety good and unique in its art design, but I have to say, the amount of retro shooters with grey pixelated graphics is so absurd at this point I legit hope this whole "retro trend" is gonna die soon. It's been like 8 years since Dusk, just do something different.
Kinda hope we get more 2000s era looking shooters aesthetically and gameplay wise
There are so many games released every year, just choose to play some other game. Every game has its fans.
After Selaco and Trepang2, I'm hoping to see a resurgence of Fear-like/Woo Shooters or maybe some Half-likes. Fingers crossed!
Have you checked out the GOG port of the original Resident Evil?
Not yet but I'm hearing good things. I still like dusting off my PS1 copy every now and then.
@@KIRKCOLLECTSthe opening PS1 chime and resident evil go hand and hand
was having fun with it but the weapon limit and no inventory ruined it for me
As always great video and so cool you're talking about this game. Having played System Shock with the traditional control scheme though, I have to say I just couldn't bring myself to do something similar now. It's like the tank controls of PC gaming. I understand how it can help build tension and make the player feel vulnerable, but I also think it's bad game design and kind of a crutch.
I appreciate he comment! Like I said it's not going to be for everybody.
wish i could agree but the game is a disaster, it has worse controls and camera than system shock, you cant even look up, you can can only 2 weapons and only a small one and a big one so you are even more limited and ammo is very rare, you have limited save disks , the manual reloading is buggy, the writer is laughable, the game is way too dark and you have to waste so much resources to see where to and so many pickups are hidden in the darkness, the lighting feels broken, the game runs like absolute trash, i had to quit the game 5 times in a row in order to unload its memory so it doesnt run like a slide show, the garden area was really laggy and the frozen area was insufferably badly optimized. The game crashes multiple times and i lost progress, the game did not catch the full screen mouse properly so when i clicked at the edge of the screen the game alt tabbed which made it more prone to crashing. This is my first experience with godot engine and so far its the worst engine i have ever seen in a game, At some point i tried to run off a ledge to get to an elevated gap where the dead space plasma cutter and i got stuck in there and had to restart the game. I got stuck under desks so many times and i restarted the game so many time because i thought i screwed myself, the game is extremely unapproachable for way too many reasons, you cant even see your health without using an item, the inventory and the map menus are just bad on purpose, the game annoyed me so much that i actually would rather play bioshock which is too simple for me, but hey at least it worked. I dont hate the game, i just think it needs tons of patching and rebalancing and i am glad i supported the dev but the game just isnt good, tis a mess, it has the potential to be good but as of the last time i played it weeks ago, it was extremely rough. My view essentially was the same as graven, i want to like it and despite what everyone said and despite its problems i enjoyed it, but in the case of this game, nope, it beat me, i want to like it, but its insufferable. I just cant. Hopefully he make a better sequel.
.........sounds like the game was made to be System Shock like........shocking
The controls and camera (for basic movement+shooty) are pretty much the same as RE4, one of the best selling games of all time
Sounds like skill issue to me. It supposed to blend survival horror with im-sim hence it has limited weapon and tank control. "You can't even see your health without using an item", here's a word for you: 'PERK', again that's the intention of the game to make it more balance since enemy movement and attack are slow
@@bearofthewest389 system shock did not break all the time and crash and had horrible performance and like i said it let you save anywhere you wanted, did not prevent you from picking more than 2 weapons or equipping them due to skill requirements and had better controls and camer and inventory, this is making the game worse on purpose and been a broken mess on top.
@@lambsauce5312 wtf are you people talking about are you demented? You cant even look up.

What other games do you recommend?
This looks like a paid sponsored review if you can call it that.
Doom 3 is good FPS, but it is not DOOM. I remember one phase after gameplay had settled to it's actiony style that departed by not having enemies appear for long time. Really spooked me.
Good overview.
Doom 3 was my first Doom game so now it makes sense why I don’t really like any of the other games.
It's so bizarre that these were two very different games, and at the time, I had no idea the OG Xbox version was made by the same studio that made Chaos Theory whilst the 360 version (which I played) was a different developer entirely. I finally remedied this teenage oversight a few years ago and gave the Montreal version a playthrough, and whilst not as sharp as Chaos Theory, it was still a great experience, and the last genuinely more traditional Splinter Cell game. I played it back to back with Shanghai's Double Agent, and there's no doubt Montreal's is the superior game. Still, I like the 360 version too and have some nostalgia for it, particularly its mercs vs spies mode which I played a lot, though again, it wasn't as good as Chaos Theory's. It's biggest problem is that it has too many daylight missions in what is meant to be a game about sneaking around stealthily in the dark; I still really don't understand the design philosophy with that one... This review was great though in breaking each game down side by side and I'll definitely be checking out more of your work! Though, could somebody explain to me how it makes any sense that the NSA wouldn't have raided the JBA the moment they acquired the presumably highly illegal 'red mercury' substance given it can make nukes? I mean, how much more evidence does their double agent need to gather before they shut this terrorist operation down, but no, New York has to be on the precicipe of a nuclear detonation for Sam to finally be given the fifth freedom?! The plot basically makes no sense within the context of what a double agent actually is, but hey, these are just mid-2000s video games after all...
Being an FPS vet, I played through this first time on Hard, and I regretted that before long. When several randomised pots in a row killed me, I called bullshit and started using the health cheat just to get through the game in a reasonable time! Wish I'd watched this excellent review beforehand as I'd probably have stuck to Normal if I'd known about this little devilish design decision.
The funny thing is that in the PC version you had SOME ps2 cutscenes and nothing else. So must of the time you don't understand shit. Like in the first mission you enter rushing to the helicopter and with different clothes
Well, they just added an update that made the hard difficulty harder and added custom difficulty on top of that, which is pretty cool.
That wasn't Tom clancy
